Gareth brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to his role as the Head of Department for Physical Education and Swimming at UISKL. With a recently acquired Masters in Education, specialising in Sports Leadership in schools, a PGCEi from the University of Nottingham and a BA in International Business Management, Gareth’s diverse background enriches his teaching philosophy. He believes in creating engaging, fun, and innovative learning experiences, utilising effective pedagogies like scaffolding to ensure students reach their full potential. Before joining UISKL, Gareth has spent time teaching P. E, Psychology and Geography up to A Level Standard in schools in the U.K, China, UAE and Malaysia. Having played several sports to a high level, notably swimming at county and regional level, a highlight being competing at the English Schools Swimming Championships. Gareth also played Cricket to a high standard where at club level he was fast tracked from junior’s captain to men’s 2nd team then 1st team as an opening batsman by the age of 17, representing his county for several years in the process and attending Lilleshall National Sports Centre for training. More recently playing in sponsored league cricket touring internationally recognised stadiums in China and Hong Kong. Basketball is another passion of his which he excelled in, after some eye catching performances at a regional tournament he was scouted and offered to train with the East of England team. He is also a keen sportsman at club/amateur level in football, rugby, golf and tennis. Gareth’s passion for sport, combined with his dedication to teaching and self-improvement, makes him a perfect fit for leading the P.E. department at UISKL and delivering the best educational experience for the students.
